Current situation

Livestock husbandry is increasingly finding itself at the centre of public interest. Farm managers are being confronted daily by dwindling subsidies and falling milk prices. There can be no alternative to economic milk production. Only the optimum health of the herd can allow a profitable milk production. Prophylaxis and prevention in dairy cow farming will optimize the animals’ health and make possible a maximum yield combined with the lowest ongoing operating costs. Infectious diseases which are already present have to be combated according to epidemiological criteria. The appropriate prophylactic plans are to be implemented.

Problem areas in the field of animal health are:
  • Dry cow management
  • Cows in the transit phase
  • Birth management
  • Post-partum cows
  • Rearing of calves
  • Cow comfort
  • Feed appropriate for high-yield ruminants
  • Too short a period of productive life
  • Health of the udder
  • Fertility
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Hoof health
  • High stock replacement rate
  • Parasitic diseases

Optimized approaches to solutions are worked out on-site as a combined effort with all the specialist departments.
